Puppy Skills

AT THIS TIME, WE ARE NOT OFFERING PRIVATE SESSIONS. PLEASE LOOK AT OUR PUPPY SCHOOL AND DAY SCHOOL TAB FOR TRAINING REGARDING INFORMATION.

Our puppy skills lesson is an informational lesson where you will meet with one of our trainers to discuss how to teach your new puppy proper crate training, potty training, nipping prevention, and proper play and exercise.

As one on one lessons each puppy and their owners are the main focuses of the trainer’s time.  We encourage puppy parents to ask all of their questions during the lesson and want everyone to feel as comfortable and excited as possible

We recommend enrolling your puppy in one of our puppy skills lessons then following up with our standard private lessons or Day School program. Is your puppy already a pro at potty training, crate training, etc.? Go straight to our standard lesson!

Registration

Prior to scheduling any training sessions, we need you to complete our online registration and have vaccination records on file. Once your account is complete, please email your dogs vaccine records to vaccines@dogdenchicago.com or upload a copy of your dog's vaccination records to your account showing they are up to date to the following vaccinations: Distemper Parvo Bordetella Rabies (if your dog is over 4 months)

Scheduling

Once your account is complete and we have vaccination records on file, we can happily schedule your grooming visit via email info@dogdenchicago.com. Once your training appointment is scheduled, the owner on file will receive a confirmation email and a link to pay the deposit for every scheduled appointment. Without this confirmation email, the appointment has not been scheduled. We do not accept walk-in appointments. If you are unsure whether your appointment is scheduled or not, email info@dogdenchicago.com to confirm.

Deposit

We require a $50 deposit for our puppy skill training session. Without your deposit made, your appointment is not confirmed and can be forfeited.

Cancelation Policy

Cancellation must be made prior to 48-hours or you will forfeit the deposit.

Length of Lesson

Lessons are between 45 - 60 minutes depending what your pup can handle.

Age Requirements

We have no age requirements for our puppy skills lesson. This lesson is tailored for owner's who need help with potty training, excessive nipping, proper play techniques, crate training help, etc.

Preparing for Class

  • To maintain proper potty training habits, please allow your puppy to go potty prior to class. Puppies will have potty breaks on an as-needed basis.
  • During your lesson, your puppy will receive a lot of food rewards if we are practicing crate training, so it is best to make sure they have not eaten prior to class. We recommend that you bring your puppies breakfast, lunch, or dinner in addition to treats. We do not supply treats.
