GROOMING

Baths, blow outs, nail trims, and haircuts! Stinky pup? Need a trim? Our groomer handles a wide variety of breeds and coat types with skill and compassion. Based on the length of your dog's hair and desired outcome, there are two options for your dog's grooming visit: Bath and Tidy or Full Groom.

1 | What is Grooming for your dog?

Grooming is not like going to a salon for humans. A skilled groomer is as essential for your dog’s overall well-being as a regular check up with a veterinarian. It is part of your dog’s holistic care, making sure their skin and coat are cared for. These two things after all are indicators of your dog’s overall health. Neglecting regular grooming can result in pain, infection, and potentially injury to their skin and coat.

2 | How often should your dog be groomed?

Whether your dog has short, medium or long hair, your dog should be groomed professionally every 4 - 6 weeks to maintain proper coat health. We recommend that any grooming client be on a recurring 6-week appointment schedule. Any longer than 6 weeks for a long or curly haired coat can be at risk for developing severe matting. If your dog comes in severely matted on multiple occasions, we have the right to require your dog to be on recurring grooms every 4 weeks or no longer accept you for grooming.

3 | Bath and Tidy

Our Bath and Tidy is our basic grooming service for shorter haired dogs or dogs with longer hair who just need a touch up. This includes a bath, brush, blow dry, ear cleaning, nail trim, sanitary trim, face trim, deshedding (if needed) and shaving off paw pads. We do not offer anal gland expression or teeth brushing during our services.

4 | Full Groom

Our Full Groom is for our pups in need of a full haircut. This includes bath, blow dry, ear cleaning, nail trim, hair cut, sanitary trim, deshedding (if needed) and shaving off paw pads. Double coated breeds are not recommended for full grooms, only bath and tidy. Double coated breeds do not benefit from having their hair trimmed down beneath their undercoat. To preserve the integrity of their coat, we do not shave or give haircuts to double coated breeds shorter than their guard hairs. Any excess undercoat that needs to be removed can be removed during the deshedding portion of a bath and tidy. We do not offer anal gland expression or teeth brushing during our services.

Grooming pricing is based on the condition and length of your dogs fur. If a deposit is not paid within 48 hours of booking your appointment, your appointment time may be given to someone else.  Dog Den Chicago requires 48-hour notice for all canceled or rescheduled appointments.
